I have a confession that is embarrassing to admit as a person who loves fashion - I just started liking coats about three years ago. Normally, I would wear the same two basic coats every winter because all I cared about was staying warm. I didn’t care about being fashionable while doing so. Winter after winter I would rotate the same coats. They lacked personality and looked a bit rough from years of being worn. If those coats could have spoke to me, I’m sure they would have said, “Rehome me!” or maybe even “Trash me!”
Here is why coats are an essential piece of your winter wardrobe. In the cooler months, the first thing (and sometimes the only thing) a person sees is your coat. That’s why it must make a fashion statement. You can be warm and stylish at the same time, while also having multiple coats for various occasions. Now, coats can be expensive. However, a good place to look for affordable coats are at thrifts stores, the clearance rack in your favorite shop and at the start of Spring when stores are trying to get rid of their winter inventory.
So yes, I’ve not only added to my coat collection, but I actually wear majority of them. I want you to be the same way. Oh, and please rehome or trash that coat you’ve worn to death!
